Nobel Prize 2021 Announced for Chemistry awarded to Benjamin and David

The Nobel Prize 2021 in Chemistry announced on Wednesday awarded to Scientists Benjamin List (Germany) and David WC MacMillan (Scotland) for “the development of asymmetric organocatalysis”

According to the Nobel Committee both of these laureates have developed a new and ingenious tool for building of molecule.

For a long time, researchers and scientists believed that there were just two types of catalysts available namely metals and enzymes. So, both of these laureates developed a third type called ‘asymmetric organocatalysis’ which builds upon small organic molecules.
